A new trailer for this summer's Green Lantern made its debut at last weekend's San Francisco WonderCon.
It's been the better part of five months since we got the first Green Lantern trailer, which ended up garnering mixed reviews, due to its emphasis on Ryan Reynolds' comic sensibilities and other superficial things. However, this trailer has rectified all of that, focusing mostly on the sublime action sequences. It truly projects a more accurate context regarding the amazing responsibility that has been placed on his Hal Jordan character.
This trailer, pretty much opens up the entire Green Lantern universe. Check it out just below.
Mark Strong's Sinestro (not quite revealing himself a villain, yet) gives an inspirational speech to the Green Lantern Corps about the horrific threat of powerful alien entity, Parallax. We then see the famed emerald ring's journey to Hal Jordan on Earth, as its owner Abin Sure is mortally wounded by the entity and escapes to Earth in his dying act. A befuddled Hal suddenly finds himself the new Green Lantern.
Green Lantern Tomar-Re has the job of exposition, giving Hal (and consequently, us) the Corps' F.A.Q. as we experience the sublime majesty of the ring's power and an impressive gathering of myriads of Green Lanterns of all shapes and species in a shot that in itself probably cost more money than you'll ever make. It's quite a sight to see.
Peter Sarsgaard’s Hector Hammond is also seen toying with Abin Sur's remains as he unlocks powers that turn him into a huge-noggined, mind-reading, megalomaniac. On top of that, Hal's going to need to deal with Parallax as it heads toward Earth. -- If only sarcasm and good looks was a weapon...
This trailer absolutely destroys the previous one, essentially portraying a grander, far more intense presentation. It should be able to win over some naysayers.
Green Lantern hits theaters on June 17 and will be presented in 3D.
What's your feedback on the new trailer? Are you on board, now?

Looks promising, but as someone else said, Ryan Reynolds would make a better Wally West than a Hal Jordan.

That looks incredible. I had my reservations about Ryan Reynolds being Hal Jordan, but it looks good. Really good.
