New Daredevil Movie In Works, David Slade To Direct

David Slade, director of the upcoming new Daredevil film, may have cleared up some misconceptions about his films. First and foremost, despite the official description by 20th Century Fox labeling the film as a "continuation" of the 2003 version starring Ben Affleck, Slade went out of his way to reveal that this will be an all-new rendition. This is a critical distinction from the language that a lot of comic book properties use to dance around the dreaded term "reboot." (Even though, for all intents and purposes, the new films are indeed reboots.) Slade also had some things to say about the Internet rumor mills, who have only just begun to churn after last week's announcement of his appointment to the film. He's definitely a straight shooter, so see what he had to say below.

Clearly defining the status of the film's storyline canon, Slade would declare by method of tweet:

"It will bare no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way. We are at early planning stages and have not yet discussed any cast." Adding: "So without breaking confidentiality, yes Daredevil, we have a great outline for a very strong character driven take on Mr Matt Murdock."

The rumor-filled blogosphere is already in full effect, having already been filled with rumors of stars like Bradley Cooper (Limitless, The Hangover), Garret Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), and even tweeny emo vampire icon Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga) as candidates for the new Matt Murdock/Daredevil. While Slade was not specific in his statement, he did have something to say about the quick proliferation of rumors on the film:

"Forgot to look at the internet for a few weeks and its a litany of false (and not so far off) rumours."

I guess we can take it as good news for now that Slade intends to carry out his own vision of Daredevil. While Slade said no cast members have been discussed, it will be interesting to see if Fox (who are essentially making this movie to anchor the film rights), would pressure him to cast someone like Robert Pattinson to capitalize on a pretty lucrative young female demographic. If so, I wonder how that will mesh with his vision.

I will shame and laugh the day Pattinson ever becomes a super hero.

Theyre doing reboots too fast, it makes their own movie seem meaningless, this will do as well as Punisher Warzone, or The Hulk, anyone remember that revamp? Yea me neither, just that it fed off Ironman hype.

out of the 3 mentioned, i like the guy from Tron the most. Cooper will always remind me too much of Phil from The Hangover and Sack from Wedding Crashers. and Pattinson, lol

Yes, Pattinson would be an awful pick for Dare Devil.
