The Loop: The Youth Vote

Posted January 28, 2008 - By Eugene Morton

It’s widely accepted that young people don’t care about politics. However, that may be changing. You saw the signs during the last election with movements such as Vote or Die! and you’re seeing it currently in films like 18 in ’08.

Young people are starting to take notice and get involved politically in a way that is unique to this period in history, but why now and will this new found political fervor shape the upcoming Presidential election?

To answer that question, we’ll welcome the Founder and Editor of YPulse, Anastasia Goodstein and the Producer and Director of the documentary, 18 in ’08, David D. Burstein.

You know what???? I remember in high school where I was "promoting" myself, I always got bashed for supporting Bush all these years. Damn teachers thought they were better than me and it looks like they were probably right. You know, I NEVER question my President, why??? Because a lot of things happen that we don't understand, or yet alone conceived. I think thats how it works....

As for my boy Abama and my girl Hillary, and the rest of the candidates, I wanna trust them. But there is one thing that my boy Abama has that one else has..........POWER! The Kennedy's got my boy's back(finally, Massachusetts does something good). And NO New York Hillary is not one of you, she's one of OURS! Finally, we'll have one of our own in the Presidency.......like I said before, "We're more powerful than ever before"....(evil laugh)...........(evil laugh)........oooops, I'm still here, ohhh well,....(evil laugh)....

All I can say is wow, how misleading can we be when we have an agenda. Hillary and Obama are saying the exact same things on what they will do if they are elected. But thats the youth, they just dont listen, myself included.

I felt stupid for voting last Presidential election. I wasted part of my college career actually caring in 04. Lesson learned don't waste your youth. This time around I'm voting for Ralph Wiggum.
