Valient Thorr

Posted February 23, 2006 - By Stephen Johnson
The members of metal overlords Valient Thorr claim to have "crash-landed their star-cruiser on Earth." Though some claim they are actually from Durham, North Carolina. Their mission on this planet? To "redeem the world through rock 'n' roll mayhem." Okay. That works. Not too subtle, but Iron Maiden never won any awards for being restrained either.

Lead by Valient Himself on vocals, Jjin Thorr on guitar and keyboards, Eidan Thorr on guitar, Professor Strangees on bass, and Lucian Thorr on the skins, the band sounds like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and The MC5 in an back alley knife fight. Yes, this is pure denim and leather, baby. And if’s too loud and too proud, then you’re a just big friggin’ pu**y. It’s just that simple.

You have to consider where they were succesful to get to this point, bars. They aren't designed for AOTS. I know I would have a great time seeing them live in the right enviorment. Interesting sound, sounded like their carburators were clogged, Kinda restricted. Maybe kids these days cant handle loud, wide open searing guitars, still good though.

I was so freakin' thrilled when they finished playing. I mean I felt unimaginable joy when it came to a close. I think anyone would feel that way if they had spent the entire time the song was going on thinking their sound system had just broken, only to discover that it wasn't the speakers... it was the band all along.

The Valient Thorr are probably the only band in the universe that actually promote life, love, and prosperity without wrapping it up in a bunch of bullsh-t. i've never felt more positive energy than the energy these universal travelers bestow upon the people of planet Earth. sure, theres a bunch of negative nancys out there who think these guys arent for real. and having been witness to their LIVE show, i feel it is my duty as a human to help spread their gospel.

and Valient Himself rocked so hard that the microphone he was using on Attack of the Show couldnt handle it! !! !!!

and for the quote: "the dreams of everyone will have never happened if none of us live on to tell about it".. i'd love to elect the Valient Thorr as my intergalactic representatives and ambassadors.

They didn't even need a microphone to rock TV's ass off.

Damn! Did I just see the most rocking segment ever aired or not? To all you little slammers here on the board, you should step back and take notes while the people who know TRUE ROCK step up to the stage and lead in worship to the Gods of Rock! Seriously, most other performers on TV these days just play the same old boring, watered down recycled garbage. Valient Thorr definitely brought the thunder and the lightning with them. Raw Power my friends. What you have witnessed was RAW POWER!

"Shower" and "Razor" are no match for the rock.

Someone ought to introduce those guys to the new-fangled concepts of "shower" and "razor".

Whenever I watch the "bands" on AOTS, I always feel sorry for the drummer. Here they are, on national television, playing their hearts out and they are surrounded by the monkeys in their band who could barely get past the EASY level on Guitar Hero. Just for the record, taking off your shirt and jumping around yelling is NOT singing.

In case you missed it, I thought Valient Thorr was one of the most horrific moments on television this year, but was, unfortunately, another in a long line of musical disappointments that are inflicted upon us from week to week.

Come on guys, you can do better. The music scene can't be THAT bad around there. Maybe you should choose the bands BEFORE trying out the latest Lush recipe.
