To coincide with her appearance on today's Mash-up show, here's the great  Blair Butler's   "better late than never" Fresh Ink wrap-up. As alway, you should listen to Blair when she tells you about comics because Science has proven her opinions have never been wrong...ever.

DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore – Originally released in 2003 as “Across the Universe,” this anthology has  been reprinted – and two of Alan Moore’s best stories are finally included. It seems kind of crazy that they were omitted from the first printing, ‘cause, really, they’re the main reason to buy this book. To contextualize, if you didn’t already know, Alan Moore, the legendary author of “Watchmen” and “V for Vendetta,” penned a series of backup stories for DC Comics in the 80’s. These tales featured everyone from the Green Arrow  to the Green Lantern Corp, and brought his dark vision to some of the DCU’s low-profile characters. Like The Vigilante – who appears to be fighting crime in a ski suit. This book collects some of Moore’s best work at DC (excluding his run on “Swamp Thing”), most notably the two-part Superman storyline “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow.”  Forget about that stupid “Death of Superman” publicity stunt DC pulled in the 90’s – this tale of the Man of Steel’s demise is one for the ages. Oh, and did I mention that this book contains what is arguably the best Joker story of all time, “Batman: The Killing Joke.” Buy it now.
The Verdict: BUY
