I'll have to agree with Willis on this instead of Old_Hag about the drummer ordeal. Check out Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, absolutely amazing drummer.

I expected a lot more from Herrera. I think he got soft after Transgression. "Slave Labor" and "Cyberwaste" were awsome tracks from Archetype, his work with Brujeria was good too, I was expecting that calibur. I was extremely impressed with Kevin. Major props to him.

Kevin won the battle imo. Why? Because he actually had a better groove. Raymond might have won as far as speed goes (not that Raymonds drumming was overly technical or anything) but he sounded like a robot.
And sorry Old_hag, the drummers for the bands you mentioned, while not terrible by any means, are NOT the best by a long shot. Before you try and to respond with a "witty" comback, watch the following video clip of Virgil Donati....(pay close attention to the section at 1:29 seconds into the song)

Along with Donati, Thomas Lang and Mike Mangini and a few others are among an elite group of drummers. Not only are all 3 faster then the metal drummers you mentioned (Mike Mangini holds the world's fastest drum record) but they are able to play FAR more complex drum parts. They play multiple odd timesignatures at the same time (polyrythmns) and have 4 limb independence.

Getting off the subject of drumming show-down a little, but you need to check out the drummer's for "The End" "Lamb of God" and "Cryptopsy". The drummer's for these bands far excels any drummer out there. This is not an opinion, it's a fact. Check these bands out, especially Lamb of God and The End.

I noticed Kevin actually shows some limb independance! That part with the double bass, notice how Kevin keeps a rythem other than a strait quarter notes. That's something that the average "hobby" drummer never gets. That's something that most drummers never show. So I just gotta give props to Kevin on this one. Good job man!

I've seriously watched this video 20 times. I love it.
Kevin's a great drummer to watch, just because you can tell he enjoys what he's doing. Raymond has that sort of "OK, I'm going to bang drums now" look.

Was I the only one that thought Kevin won? I mean Herreras was great, and probably took more skill too pull off technically, but those last two's of Kevin's were actually really great to listen to. Quite groovy.
