DIY Enhanced Podcast

Get the ENHANCED AOTS Morning Meeting Podcast. Right click and save. It's actually the most fun meeting of the day. This one's a little old - we recorded it this past Monday. We hope to make more of these and turn it into a regular thing. Let us know if you like it in the comments! Obviously, future podcasts will be more timely.

To play, just drag and drop the file into iTunes and/or play it on your iPod. Look for the 'book' icon at the top of your iTunes player to switch chapters within the podcast. Make sure 'Artwork' is displayed so that you can see the pictures and click the relevant links.

As of now, you can only make enhanced podcasts with a Macintosh. Sorry, Windoze users.

Enhanced podcasts are almost ready for prime time. I had issues with links that had lots of symbols in them. It seemed like multiple equals symbols were causing trouble. Virtually all PHP based sites have equal signs in their links, so I had to change several of the links to accomodate this bug.

Also, make sure you use a legitimate text editor like BBEdit or you may have problems with the ChapterTool not being able to parse your XML. Save your text file as Unicode 8 with an XML file extension.

Creating an enhanced podcast isn't a difficult thing to do, but it's very time consuming. You've been warned. :)
