Star Trek 2 Gets Sherlock Holmes And A Doctor Who Companion

The upcoming sequel to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek has added a villain into the mix.

Joining the cast as a still-untitled rogue, is Benedict Cumberbatch, who is known for the titular role on the BBC's Sherlock, a head-turning role in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and will actually provide the voice and physical motion-capture acting for the role of fire-breathing Dragon, Smaug in the two parts of The Hobbit.

Now, the London-born actor could be looking at what may be a breakthrough role when he takes on the rejuvenated crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Oh, but wait, there is another that will be joining the cast of the intergalactic space epic. How does a former Doctor Who companion sound?

Superman Rumor: Bradley Cooper As Lex Luthor?

Superman: The Man of Steel may already have its rogues gallery set to headline with Michael Shannon as General Zod. However, the latest rumor, is that the Summer 2013 film may also feature Supes' other signature villain, Lex Luthor. -- Played by star of The Hangover films, Bradley Cooper!

According to Cosmic BookNews, a tip informed them that after Cooper's role in the upcoming adaptation of Milton's Paradise Lost fell through, the actor was recruited to make what will simply be a cameo in the upcoming Superman reboot as the iconic industrialist who emphasizes the "mega" in megalomaniac.

This rumor is certainly unconfirmed, "take with a grain of salt" material. However, stranger things have happened, and director, Zack Snyder may realistically want to plant the seeds for a potential sequel by including a Luthor cameo. (Whether he is played by Cooper, or someone else.)

The Expendables Teaser Trailer Hits Hard

The first teaser trailer for The Expendables 2 has hit.

Sure, it may just be a one-minute montage, but it features footage of some of cinema's greatest action icons assembled together for the old-school action mega-sequel. Without a doubt, it will be the most star-stacked action feature ever.

Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Van Damme, Li, Staham, Lundgren, Crews, Couture...and CHUCK motherf***ing NORRIS!!! It's an embarrassment of badass riches, which will likely need the help of nuclear physicists to contain what is guaranteed to turn every showing into a quarantined ground zero for a massive testosterone outbreak, to which no HAZMAT suit will suffice.

Check out the teaser below!

Starship Troopers Joins The Remake Club

Starship Troopers, the 1997 big-budget sci-fi epic will be the next film to get the remake/reboot treatment.

According to Vulture, producer, Neal Moritz will be teaming with Sony Pictures to bring back the franchise in which space marines shot guns at giant spider-creatures. (Although will likely be best remembered for the coed showers.)

Getting to work on the script, will be the team of Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, whose writing talents have been put to use on X-Men: First ClassThor, as well as episodes of Fringe and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

So, are we really at the point where Starship Troopers has attained enough of a cultural standing to warrant a remake?
