Goodbye, Qwikster! Netflix announced today that they were ending their plans to split their DVD by mail option as a separate service called Qwikster. On their blog, CEO Reed Hastings wrote,
"It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs. This means no change: one website, one account, one password… in other words, no Qwikster."
It took this popular DVD rental company almost a month to realize that maybe creating two separate services for customers who like to use both might be a bad idea? From shutting down their Community feature to the price increases and plans to take away the profile features (though they dropped that idea), it seems like Netflix is good at coming up with bad ideas.
