Iron Giant Hipster

The original novel that inspired 1999's animated "a boy and his robot" epic, The Iron Giant actually came out back in 1968; way before a more famous brand of anthropomorphic automatons came on the scene.

He therefore tends to scoff at any of the Transformers for making giant robots "too mainstream."

I Am Legend Follow-Up In The Works

It appears that Warner Bros are moving forward with a follow-up to Will Smith's 2007 vehicle, I Am Legend.

While the star, himself has not yet committed to return, the studio has hired scribe, Arash Amel to pen the script.

The original film, which was a second remake of 1964's The Last Man on Earth, which would later be more famously remade as The Omega Man in 1971 with Charlton Heston, was a more character-intimate take on the whole virus/zombie-apocalypse genre, bonding Smith with a German Shepherd, and later, a kid and a beautiful fellow survivor played by Alice Braga.

There's just one thing that complicates a potential sequel, which is a bit spoilerish, so be warned as you read on...

The galaxy is fixated with this woman in the 24th century for reasons that can't be logically explained.

Star Trek 2: Del Toro Out, More Khan-fusion

It looks like the villains landscape for the upcoming Star Trek sequel may not be as mysterious as we were made to believe. After conflicting multiple reports, the first bit of news is that Benicio Del Toro is OUT of the film. The second, is that Khan could still be IN.

Apparently, the negotiations with the actor fell through last week, leaving a prominent villain slot vacant. This would seemingly puzzle fans, especially after director, J.J. Abrams just recently debunked a report by LatinoReview claiming that Del Toro would play the iconic Khan Noonien Singh. -- Well, the cryptic director, in that sense was telling the truth. Benicio Del Toro would not be playing Khan. -- But someone still might.

Now, after having thought that the genetically-engineered General of chaos was ruled out, we now find him back at the top of possible villain candidates. Will it happen?
