After its month-long reign on top of the box office charts, The Dark Knight took second place beneath Ben Stiller's Hollywood commando spoof, Tropic Thunder. But Christopher Nolan's masterpiece took another second place spot--above Star Wars as the second highest-grossing film of all time in the domestic charts.
Stiller, along with Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black, took in about $26 million this past weekend with Tropic Thunder, while Christian Bale and the late, great Heath Ledger added $16.8 million to its $471.5 million national total. It passed Star Wars's $460 million haul, but it looks like it won't make it up to Titanic's $600 million mark.
Oh, and speaking of Star Wars, the CG powered feature film Star Wars: Clone Wars, opened third place with $15.5 million.
