Videogames

Web comics, geek culture and videogames collide today when the guys behind Penny Arcade stop by on Attack of the Show . Illustrator Mike Krahulik and writer Jerry Holkins will be here to talk about their new sixth book, The Splendid Magic of Penny Arcade, and to share stories from their ongoing book tour. Maybe they'll even tell us what it's like being the most popular nerds ever.
Tune in to G4 tonight at 7:00p to catch this special interview!

Did you know? Valentine's Day is this Sunday, it's the holy day for love and giving presents to girls who really deserve it. No, this isn't a fake Hallmark holiday that represents needless consumerism in America. It's about girls, which explains why the editors of TheFeed asked me (an actual girl) to count down the top game characters I'd like to have as my very special boyfriends Valentines.
These guys may be fake and all, but that doesn't mean I can't swoon over them every time they appear on my TV screen. And they’re real in my heart.
5. Master Chief, Halo 3: I know, weird. But think about it!!!! He's the last living Spartan Supersoldier Something and talk about MYSTERY. I don't even know what this guy looks like, but I would totally make out with him. He saves the world, can survive pretty much anything (unless I'm the one actually playing Halo. Then he dies like every 5 minutes.) and the reason why he doesn't talk much is because he’s LISTENING. It’s really hard to find a guy who listens, you know? The only problem is getting Cortana out of the picture. She is so annoying.
Attack of the Staff: Scott Moschella, Senior Segment Producer
Hometown: Wayne, NJ
Position: I’m kind of the kicker. I’m always there, I have a very specific skill set, I work hard when I need to and I’ll sometimes surprise you by winning the game.
Favorite Season: Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 3
Least Favorite Nickname: Skeeter
AOTB: What do you do on AOTS?
I produce various segments including Web Tools, Go Hack Yourself, As Seen on TV, Quick Hit, Kings of Dot Comedy, Who’s Who on YouTube and The Feed. That means I have to find and research sites/apps/YouTube celebrities/games, write the scripts, gather or shoot the footage and hand all of that over to one of our editors who cuts each segment into 2 – 3 minutes worth of television. That’s how we make TV magic.
AOTB: What is your favorite moment from the show?
First, here’s a classic favorite moment from The Screen Savers: We enjoyed playing practical jokes on the set and I probably should have gotten fired for this but, I changed one of our co-host’s lines in the teleprompter to say, “… and I’m not wearing any pants.” The co-host, Dan Huard was also my roommate and I honestly didn’t think he would actually read the lines, but, he did and the rest is history.
I’m going to have to say, my favorite AOTS moment was during our 1,000th episode when Kevin finally realized his dream of catching a greased pig with his bare hands. The unplanned part where the pig escaped the little pen we had set up was one of those awesome live TV moments.
AOTB: You have quite a history with the show. Tell us about it.
This is a really long story, so go grab a coffee and come back. I started as an intern on TechTV’s Call for Help. Back then, the interns ran the teleprompter during the show and sent out the prizes to the show’s callers. I was such an awesome intern that I was hired on staff as a production assistant for The Screen Savers. Then, I moved into the control room as the show’s line producer. The line producer keeps the show to time, talking to the on-air hosts through those little dealies in their ears during the show. That way, they know how much time is left in each segment and when to wrap up interviews and such. The show moved down to Los Angeles from San Francisco. We started a new show called Attack of the Show, loosely based on the format of The Screen Savers. I became a segment producer. My job then, as it pretty much is now, inventing or finding interesting tech hacks and discovering cool websites, events and guests who we can invite onto the show.
Name/ Title: Bruce Greene / Segment Producer
Hometown: Santa Barbara, CA
Position: Gadget Producer
Favorite Season: Summer
Least Favorite Nickname: Spruce Moose
AOTB: What do you do on AOTS?
I produce Gadget Pr0n, as well as Gaming With the Troops and MMA Chokehold. If you want to argue about gadgets (and everyone on staff does), I’m your man.
AOTB: What is your favorite moment from the show?
When Harrison claimed he had the loudest burps ever, and he came on AOTS to prove it. It is the best worst segment in existence.
AOTB: Do you have any passions outside of working at G4?
No matter what Chris Jalandoni or Brian Terwilliger says, I am the biggest Star Wars fan on the show. I also play drums, sing karaoke, and own you as a Medic in Team Fortress 2.
AOTB: So, how's it hanging?/ What it is?
The Testosterzone (Adam Jenkins, Chris Jalandoni, Jeremy Hache, Scott Moschella) told me to make a joke about a hooker.
AOTB: Did you go to school to do what you do?
Does Computer Science count?
AOTB: What did you do before coming to work at G4?
I worked at a radio station in L.A. called KROQ, and before that, attended UCSB. I was also a disc jockey at a radio station called KJEE.

We here at G4 are so immersed in videogames and technology that sometimes we forget about the real things in life. No, not actual relationships, love or weird things like books, but the real American way of life. Farms. Tractors. People who live between Los Angeles and New York. Those places where our food comes from. That stuff.
So this week's Actual Great Moments in De-Evolution is dedicated to RFD TV, a cable network dedicated to rural America with specialty programming about horses, antique tractor shows, livestock auctions and agricultural news--everything that rural Americans probably deal with every single day in their life. Yeah, that's right. That popular rural lifestyle is now available with your regular cable programming between MTV's Real World and Mad Men on AMC. Actually, more like ESPN Deportes and that random channel that always plays weird Chinese dramas.
How can you miss out on specials like HEE HAW, a country variety show, Ms. Lucy's Classic Cajun Cooking or The Marty Stuart Show featuring the one and only country music icon himself?
As they say themselves, it's about time someone paid attention to rural America and by golly, we're watching (from the comfort of our Pottery Barn sofa and our 59" flat screen plasma TV)!
