Mortal Kombat: Legacy: Watch The First Episode Right Now!

The first episode of web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy has hit.

What started as a bizarre one-shot trailer with gruesome, pseudo-realistic imagery has evolved into this 10 episode action-packed web series. "Evolved" in the sense that (at least in this first entry,) it has slightly toned-down the grotesque, over-the-top aspects of that trailer from last year and comes out of the gate with more of a solid, realistic action style. As a result, while it still deviates heavily from the style of the iconic fighting game franchise, it simultaneously has more of the feel for the game's mythology.

Check out the first episode just below.

Unfortunate Sticker Placement

Where the price sticker is placed determines whether this is the latest in a puzzle game franchise or something based off the Indiana Jones parody that Mel Brooks hasn't quite gotten around to making.

Doom To Be Rebooted In 3D?

Doom To Be Rebooted In 3D?

According to a new rumor, a reboot film of Id Software's seminal first person shooter Doom may soon be clawing at our faces -- In 3D. The original report from What's Playing didn't have much details, but allegedly, Universal Pictures is interested in resurrecting the film property. Apparently now in early stages of development, the film is said to completely abandon the events depicted in the notoriously-panned 2005 Doom movie, which starred Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Karl Urban. Of course, not that it matters all that much, since Doom was never exactly a property with a fertile and delicate storyline canon around which a writer needed to tip-toe. With the ultra-groundbreaking, never-before-attempted in history medium of 3D [/sarcasm], the question lingers as to whether we should expect a film that attempts to get a bit deeper than its much-maligned predecessor, or will it be another disposable experience?

AOTB's Super Bowl Prediction!

AOTB's Super Bowl Prediction!

Unless you've spent the past week and a half in stasis, or in a Mrs. Winterborne-type coma, you know that Sunday brings with it the game-of-all-games, the Super Bowl. This year's combatants, the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, are two storied franchises with long histories that make them two of the most important teams in the history of the sport.

Every year, here at G4tv.com, we make our predictions for who will win the game. Usually, as in last year's Feed article, it's based on videogames and what they might tell us about the future. We're down with that idea at Attack of the Blog, but we wanted to try something a little less scientific, namely comparing aesthetic points of the cities of Pittsburgh and Green Bay themselves, to see which one was truly worthy of winning the title.

If Gamers Gave The Oscars

As he has since ancient days, this morning, Tsulvoth, The Mighty God of Hollywood, opened his gargantuan throat and vomited the list of nominees for the 2011 Academy Awards. (All hail Tsulvoth!) As usual, this year’s nominees are mostly flicks that are pretty good and made money, spiced up with a few movies that are very good and didn’t.

Other than the surprisingly solid Toy Story 3 tie-in game, none of the movies nominated this year have accompanying video games, but it’s still possible to “play” them, with a little imagination. We got together with our sister blog, Attack of the Blog, and compiled the following list of games that are equivalent to this year’s academy award nominees.

Wii Punch Out!!

The Fighter: This film tells the story of "Irish" Micky Ward, an amateur boxer from Boston who eventually went pro. Though no game exactly captures Ward's difficult struggle with repeated disappointment and the turmoil caused by his brother's tragic drug addiction, in Punch-Out!! for the Wii, you do get to play as a white guy (Little Mac) who beats up cartoonish characters based on harmful, racist stereotypes. No game is truer to both the spirit of Boston and professional boxing.
