Maybe, but it never hurts to be prepared. If you’re hoping to survive the end, you might want to pick up today’s items (except for the pet monkey, which you should only buy because it’s cute).

Geek Out: BSG Live!

Posted by Jonathan Hunt - Thursday, May 08, 2008 3:54 PM

This past Tax Day, April 15th, a very special event took place at the Roxy in Los Angeles, California. Nerds from all over crowded together for a sold-out show where composer Bear McCreary brought the music of Battlestar Galactica to a live concert venue.

We were the only ones given full access to everyone and everything inside the club. Sure we could be selfish and keep all the BSG-sweetness for ourselves, but we're not like that. We're about sharing.

Bear, his brother Brendan, the lovely Raya Yarbrough, and the Galactica's own Kandyse McClure all found time to sit down with us and talk about this unique concert event that brought musicians, performers, and geeks together like nothing has before.

This is the only place where you can see this footage! Also, be sure to check back next week, where we'll have some more BSG Live surprises up our sleeve.

WebTools: Competition Sites

Posted by Eugene Morton - Thursday, May 08, 2008 2:41 PM

The will to compete is strong in the human animal. In fact, so unyielding is the psychological need to show one’s superiority that there are actually websites dedicated to competitions of skill.

Ibeatyou and Strutta both offer competitors the chance to face off in various events (including beatboxing) by posting videos online.

If you want to find out how to show the world that it needs to respect your mad skills or you just want to see titans go at it, see our profile of the sites in today’s WebTools.

'Poultrygeist' Red Carpet

Posted by Eugene Morton - Thursday, May 08, 2008 2:22 PM

Of all the Hollywood parties and special events, nothing compares to the premiere of a Troma movie.

The (blood) red carpet event for their new film, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead featured odd characters, beautiful, buxom women and the best C-list celebs Tinsel Town has to offer.

We were on hand for the festivities and it was truly a sight to behold. Trod the red carpet with us later today, won’t you?

'Speed Racer' First Look

Posted by Eugene Morton - Thursday, May 08, 2008 11:37 AM

We remember hearing the Speed Racer theme song for the first time, a catchy tune which ended with the words, “Go Speed Racer, go!”

We must confess, one place we thought Speed would never go was to the big screen. The cartoon (even the revamped series than ran during the early 90s) was great, but we didn’t believe someone would ever make the thing into a live action film. We’re so glad we were wrong.

Today, we’ll gladly present a preview of the film to you Speed freaks. Go, Speed Racer, go!

The Loop: Not So Super Deluxe

Posted by Eugene Morton - Thursday, May 08, 2008 10:56 AM

Media giant, Time Warner has decided to merge its comedy video site, Super Deluxe with the Cartoon Network site, Adult Swim, a move which has resulted in the termination of an untold number of the Super Deluxe staff.

Time Warner hasn’t gotten where it is by making bad decisions and its actions seem to indicate that, popular as the Super Deluxe was, it wasn’t turning a profit (or enough of one to justify its existence).
