Still, inspired by the movie, Into the Wild (on DVD tomorrow) and our innate curiosity, we sent correspondent, Alison Haislip out to learn about what it took to make the film and to get insight into what true wilderness survival along the Colorado River entails. Hint: lots of kayaking. Tune in and be blown away by the grandiosity of nature while safely snuggled on your couch, in your downtown apartment.

The Loop: A Digital Music FuturePosted by Eugene Morton - Monday, March 03, 2008 11:54 AM
The band, Nine Inch Nails has (like Radiohead before them) just released its latest album directly to the web. Furthermore, CD sales are way down and, as we reported in Friday’s The Loop, iTunes has become the number two retailer of music, taking the place of Best Buy. All of this spells bad news for traditional music distribution and the CD format. Will online music downloads be the death of CDs? To answer that question, we’ll welcome Columnist and Blogger at Wired, Eliot Van Buskirk and Phil Kay, Vocalist, Keyboardist and Producer from the band, Working For a Nuclear Free City.

Technology moves and it moves fast. One day you’re feeling like hot stuff because you’re the only guy strutting around with a beige cell phone that’s the size of a brick and the next day all of your friends are laughing at you because you’ve got no idea what a Bluetooth headset is.
We don’t know about you, but we’re not fans of the wilderness. Don’t get us wrong, the great outdoors are amazing, but spending a lot of time in nature is rough. You have to become one with your surroundings, lug gear, catch and cook your own food and even go without internet access.
Formats pass away and thank goodness they do, because 8-tracks sucked and vinyl record players are hard to carry while you’re jogging, grocery shopping and pumping iron. Digital downloads, together with CDs are where it’s at. However, a growing trend in music retail may change that.
There are any number of colorful characters floating around on YouTube. Most of them are talentless hacks just looking for attention or young rapscallions who enjoy humiliating their friends in front of a web audience of millions, but some are a little more unique.
Ninjas everywhere, assemble! We’ve got some exhilarating entertainment in store for you! On today’s show we'll review the Helio Myst in Gadget Pr0n, take a look at the new movie, Into the Wild and we’ll start the judging of the finalists from the American Ninja Challenge 2! Afterwards, we’ll vanish into the night like a silent assassin.
