The Loop: Anonymous V. Scientology

There’s a war on, not over land or resources, but over the practices of the Church of Scientology. A group of activists called Anonymous have taken it upon themselves to crush the Church of Scientology, threatening to put an end to the Church’s “campaigns of misinformation, your suppression of dissent and your litigious nature.”

It all started with the leak of internal Church material (the now famous videos featuring actor, Tom Cruise) and denial of service attacks on several Scientology websites, followed by an eerie video from the group on YouTube declaring “Anonymous has therefore decided that your organization should be destroyed."

The group has already shown the world that it means business, but has Anonymous gone too far?

Today’s guests will include Mark Ebner, Author of Hollywood Interrupted and Nick Douglas, Editor of Valley Wag.

The adage goes “a picture is worth a thousand words,” but if you’re a paparazzi, a picture could easily net you a thousand bucks. Even if you’re not, it wouldn’t hurt you to have a totally cool digital camera. After all, you’ve got your MySpace page to maintain.
