The Loop: Clone Burgers

Posted by Eugene Morton - Monday, January 21, 2008 9:06 AM

Science moves at a brisk pace. Most of the time the advances in science work out in favor of mankind, but not always and when science does come around to bite us in the rear, it leaves a scar that doesn’t go away for a long time.

For example, nuclear energy safely powers millions of American homes (forget what you‘ve seen on the Simpsons). On the other hand, (the mismanagement of) nuclear power caused a meltdown at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986, which resulted in the loss of an incalculable number of lives.

Will something similar happen now that the FDA has given the okay for Americans to eat cloned meat? Will something seemingly good have disastrous side effects down the line? Will you eat cloned meat?

To help you figure that out, we’ll welcome Editor In Chief for io9, Annalee Newitz and Correspondent for the science website, WorldChanging, Brandon Keim.

Today, we'll review the ASUS Eee PC.

Also, are you a friend to the Earth? Then check out GCycle... it's G4's new initiative to try and get you to be a better person and recycle tech stuff!
