You probably don’t know this, but television is hard to make. Live television is even harder.
Putting
together an hour of real time television a day is a monumental task and
takes the dedication and hard work of hundreds of people to make a
reality. Even with all these people paying attention to the details,
things fall through the cracks, mistakes get made.
One of
those mistakes was made on a recent episode of Attack of the Show. This
week, an incredible video of the game Dead Rising was shown, but credit
to the original web site that made the video was not.
In response, Aeropause , the site that originally posted the video and uploaded it to YouTube, wrote a blog entry about how they were sad that their video was show without credit.
Aeropause, we are so sorry.
Aeropause
asked in their blog post why we couldn’t take a second to credit them
on air. Unfortunately in this instance, it boils down to nothing more
but a miscommunication between employees that had the unfortunate
ending of Aeropause not being credited for their amazing zombie killing
video. It was not an intentional dis; it was simply human error.
Aeropause
is completely right. We live and die by the internet over here. At the
top of every show, we do a segment called Around the Net where we
highlight amusing and whimsical web sites and videos. Extra care is
taken to always credit those sites and I post the links to every site
each day here on Attackoftheshow.com. Aeropause’s video was shown at
the end of the show as a fun kicker and somehow along the way from
YouTube to teleprompter, the source was lost.
What happened
was awful, embarrassing and it doesn’t matter why it happened, it was
wrong. We’re a corporation (although we have Space Invaders on the
carpeting) and we take copyright law extremely seriously. We get pissed
off when people show our stuff and don’t give us credit; I wouldn’t
expect anyone out there to feel differently.
Like I said
before, we take our role as citizens on the information superhighway
very seriously. However, unlike a lot of people out there in the
universe of the worldwide web, we aren’t afraid to fess up to our
mistakes and say we’re sorry.
When we do something wrong, we don’t run and hide behind obscene hyperbole and the safety of keyboard anonymity.
So, when a staff member at AOTS caught wind of the Aeropause debacle we immediately sprung into action.
Aeropause,
on behalf of Attack of the Show, I would like to apologize for not
giving your video the credit it so rightfully deserved. We’re really
really sorry. We’re so sorry, we wrote a song for you telling you how
actively sorry we are.
It
doesn’t begin to make up for this trespass, but hopefully you will
accept it as a small token of our remorse and we can all begin the
process of healing.
Now let’s do trust falls and braid each other’s hair. Oh and kill zombies. That’d be good too.
