Koei and Tecmo Merger Finalized

Pending shareholder approval, Japanese game makers Koei and Tecmo have announced their merger.

The new holding company will be called Koei Tecmo Holdings. It will retain Tecmo's current CEO and chairman, Yasuharu Kakihara as its chairman, and current Koei chairman, Kenji Matsuhara will be the new CEO.

Both companies will remove themselves from the Tokyo Stock Exchange listing before they open under the auspice of the new name on April 1, 2008.

Key players from both companies appeared in a press conference where Mr. Matsuhara said they will focus to create global brands.

Koei Tecmo is expected to hit sales figures of ¥700,000 million  (US $7.25 million) by fiscal year 2011.

TGS 2006: Heavenly Sword Update

What isn't there to say about Heavenly Sword? It's a pretty cool game, unfortunately, the demo that they're showing at TGS is almost exactly identical to the one they gave us at E3. Uh-oh, that means little or no progress on game play has been made.

TGS 2006: MGS4 Details From Tokyo

Tokyo Game Show is well underway, and there's news aplenty. One of the hottest commodities on the market is Metal Gear Solid 4, which is getting a lot of play...well...newswise, that is. Seems Konami is going to premiere a new trailer at the show, as is their tradition.

Also, all of the footage from MGS4 to this point has been cutscenes, but now, oh, now...the new trailer, we're hearing, will be composed entirely of gameplay. Which. Is. Awesome.
