Hangover 2: Screenwriter Craig Mazin Lists His Favorite Hangover Games

The Hangover Part 2 opens in theaters today, and I'm going to encourage you to just go out and see this right now. Don't read any reviews, because you know what? Haters gonna hate. I'm not sure why The New York Times is expecting Citizen Kane out of this sequel, but it's exactly what you expect from a followup to 2009's The Hangover sleeper hit. We went to screenwriter Crag Mazin, who not only sat down for a full interview, but also listed his five favorite games to play when you have a hangover. First up, Grand Theft Auto 4:

When you’re hung over and you’re just looking for some brainless fun, one of the most fun things to do…because when you’re hung over you just hate the world. You just regret everything and you just hate life. When the hangover is really bad, and you find yourself saying, "I wish I were dead" in between dry heaves, go ahead and load up a save where Niko has loads of weapons. Zip on body armor, find a great corner of a building or storage container to defend, then start killing people. When the cops come, unleash all of your self-loathing on them as well. When you finally can't take the amorality and head-pounding, rush out and get blown to shit by a hundred NOOSE guys. Oddly comforting. That’s fun. That’s a great way to just work through a miserable headache.

Keep reading for the rest of Craig's Hangover game picks, and a full interview where he talks about Billy Joel, Ed Helms' singing ability, more video games, a possible Hangover 3, Rocketman, Game Boys, and more.

Covering Sundance can be a daunting thing, and admittedly before I'd ever gone to the festival I thought it was just smiles and fun in the snow, watching the occasional movie. However, working at Sundance usually means seeing five films a day, trekking from one side of Park City to the other and praying that you'll make it into the next screening on time, while hoping your balls don't freeze. Which is not to say that it's not fun, it's just not the Super Sexy International Film Critic life I pictured in my head.

What this pell-mell schedule usually means is that you end up missing films, and some of those end up being gems. Case in point is the impressive Hesher from writer / director Spencer Susser. It screened at Sundance 2010, and was also a selection at SXSW earlier this year. The film is now in wide release across the United States, and it's all thanks to Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Yes, really.

When Harrison claimed he had the loudest burps ever, and he came on AOTS to prove it. It is the best worst segment in existence.

No matter what Chris Jalandoni or Brian Terwilliger says, I am the biggest Star Wars fan on the show. I also play drums, sing karaoke, and own you as a Medic in Team Fortress 2.

AOTB: So, how's it hanging?/ What it is?

The Testosterzone (Adam Jenkins, Chris Jalandoni, Jeremy Hache, Scott Moschella) told me to make a joke about a hooker.

AOTB: Did you go to school to do what you do?

Does Computer Science count?

AOTB: What did you do before coming to work at G4?

I worked at a radio station in L.A. called KROQ, and before that, attended UCSB. I was also a disc jockey at a radio station called KJEE.

This Bayonetta trailer which starts out as a completely conservative and fully-clothed affair... for about 20 seconds. After that, let loose into plenty of in-game footage and gameplay, spells, combos, rocket launchers, a mysterious "left eye" artifact, partial nudity, a supposed daughter and a giant chainsaw... whew, all in under 2 minutes.

This PS3 and Xbox 360 title from Sega and MadWorld-developer Platinum Games is set to "..blow the doors off the action genre." later this year.

Before we kick this off, I want to give a shout out to Raymond Padilla for giving me yet another negative Sony story to write. He loves throwing me to the fanboys. Now, onto the story:

We already knew Sony was going to post its first operating loss in 14 years and the company expected losses of $1.1 billion. That figure has now been revised to a whopping $2.9 billion. At over 100% more than its original estimate, Sony cites the strong performance of the yen and lowered worldwide demand for its products as the culprits.

As previously mentioned, it looks like Sony will be fast-tracking its planned restructuring, which would cut 16,000 jobs by March 2010. The games division (PlayStation) was also cited for underperformance and is expected to lose $338 million.

Yesterday, I wrote about a naughty Belkin employee that was paying people to game Amazon.com's user reviews on the company's products. Belkin has fessed up to the dastardly deed (dramatization). InformationWeek has obtained a letter from Mark Reynoso, Belkin's president, that states:

"Belkin does not participate in, nor does it endorse, unethical practices like this. We know that people look to online user reviews for unbiased opinions from fellow users and instances like this challenge the implicit trust that is placed in this interaction. We regard our responsibility to our user community as sacred, and we are extremely sorry that this happened."

Reynoso also said that the company is taking action to remove the fake reviews. It's nice to see Belkin taking responsibility for this. It shouldn't have happened and it sucks that it did, but Belkin is trying to make things right.

A few of you left comments saying that you don't think much of user reviews. Certainly there are some that are just dumb (browse through EB Games, for example), but I find a lot of Amazon user reviews very useful -- especially when it comes to thinks I know very little about (vacuum cleaners, for example). What don't you like about user-generated reviews?

Unity4Life's Games|Shadow is a simple-to-install and use device that transforms your BlackBerry into a remote control for your PlayStation 3. Basically, you plug in a dongle and go to town with your CrackBerry and your PS3.

The Games|Shadow will be out in April and it retails for around $40, so you might be saying, "Doesn't a PS3 remote control only cost like 20 bucks?" And the answer is, yeah. It does. But the Shadow controller has a couple advantages over a standard remote. First, it uses your BlackBerry, so there's no need for another remote to clutter up your coffee table. Secondly, it allows you to type with the BlackBerry's keyboard. That's pretty rad, eh?

According to the demo video below, the device gives you "all the great buttons," including pause, which is my all-time favorite!
