Formula D 2006 Hosts

Hi Adam, how are ya? Where are ya right now?

I’m doing great. I just got home from work. Traffic was insane today.

How did you get hooked up with Formula D?

I’ve always been a fan and supporter of the Formula D series since its inaugural year in 2004. A few months ago, I had a conversation with a friend of mine Naoki Kobayashi (VP-Drift Association) about auditioning for a hosting position with G4tv for the 2006 Formula D series. I’ve been involved with drifting since 2002 when I learn car control at Drift Days in Southern California. I continued to improve my level of drifting and road racing at practice and speed trial speed trial events. I then began competing in local Pro-Am events consistently qualifying in Top 16. For the past couple of years I have assisted Drift Association with the organization and instruction of Drift Days and other events both in U.S. and abroad.

What is in your background that makes you a good Formula D host?

I have a long background in sports. I began at the age of six playing soccer and track and field for a number of years. I then played basketball and baseball throughout secondary school and even competed on a collegiate level in Judo. It wasn’t until later that I began directing my competitive and active background into Motorsports.Formula D 2006 Hosts

Are you a big drifting fan?

I’m a fan of all Motorsports, I just happen to be more involved in Drifting. My entertainment center at home is filled with drift videos both old and current, but I love watching a good race. Whether it’s Gibernau battling Rossi in Moto GP or Alonso Fighting off Schumacher in Formula 1, I’m inspired by their passion of their sport.

Who is your favorite drifter and why?

Japanese or U.S. Driver? Well as far as Japanese Drifters I would have to say Kazama Yasayuki. He has been dedicated to drift sport from early on and has continued to amaze everyone with his natural talent, which has improved tremendously from his first appearance in D1 back in 2001.

Formula D 2006 HostsMy pick for U.S. Driver would be Rhys Millen. Rhys has an extraordinary background in motorsports. He and his team’s professionalism, sportsmanship and high competitive attitude in my opinion, set a bar for both driver and crews in the beginning stages of drifting in the U.S.

What is your favorite car?

Way too many favorites to list. I do own a full race 1997 Nissan 240sx (S14). With all the modifications on it, I usually trailer it to track events.

What is your favorite videogame?

My all-time favorite would have to be Samurai Showdown.

What is your favorite tech device?

My MP3 player. It helps me relax while waiting pre-grid in a competition and makes DMV visits seem like cake.Formula D 2006 Hosts

What are you most excited about regarding hosting the show/going to drifting events?

I’m excited that I am a part of the new approach the show is taking to cover the events. The direction will be clear for those that have never seen drifting but at the same time contain comprehensive information to keep experienced drifters and fans alike entertained.
