Even characters in video games fall in love. Some, more than once. Others know it the second their eyes (one apiece) meet, and they never stray.

When Ms. Pac-Man met Pac-Man in the "Act 1: They Meet" vingette of her game, everyone could see that the two were meant for each other. Sure, they both had ghosts in their past, but doesn't everyone? Ms. Understanding All right, so we never get to see the Pacs actually make it legal, but little, round, yellow...umm...people surely can survive the hectic maze of life as a couple whether or not they have a little, pixelated piece of paper saying that they belong together. Bowl of Cherries The best part about meeting someone with practically the same name as your own? No messy name changes, like, ever! They didn't even have to have the "talk". And Pac-Man is a hip guy, he doesn't saddle himself with a title, and doesn't have some kooky masculine need for his little woman to call herself "Mrs. Pac-Man", either. Jr. League The Pacs are so totally made for each other! They have a kid, and they name it after, well, both of them! Pac-Man, Jr.! Okay, not a lot of creativity there, especially in a world where ghosts have names and nicknames, but whatever. They're two crazy kids in love. We'll let it slide out the side door. |

This spicy meatball has a lotta love he wants to share. He's not the insanely successful ladies' man fellow Nintendoite Link is, but he does pretty well for a big-boned plumber in red overalls. He appears to have problems with commitment, but it seems like he and Peach are currently making a go of it. Pauline First there was Pauline, a normal girl who went a little ape. Mario leaped over many obstacles for her (barrels, mostly) but he seemed to tire of her once he got her. Daisy I guess anyone would take a shot at a princess if they got one, but our tubby little carpenter-turned-plumber had his shot at two. First it was Peach in Super Mario Bros. et al, and he's back with her today. But the first time Mario hits the Game Boy, like magic, there's another princess for him to save--Daisy. Sure, they try to use her as Luigi's "beard" now, but let's face it, Mario had her first, handheld-style. Peach Mario's apparent soulmate, and frequent co-star/damsel in distress. She bakes him cakes, they go on vacations together, he rescues her so she doesn't have to marry Bowser--true romance. Unless she's just using him to keep nasty ol' King Koopa out of her hair...nah, that can't be it. She gets her chance to repay Mario for all his hard work in the upcoming Super Princess Peach, where, for once, she will set off to rescue him. |

They say love comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. These two certainly prove it! They really fell for each other, no question. Putting the Pieces Together Our lovin' blocks, unfortunately, aren't too flexible, and while they'll never be a perfect fit, they will keep working on the crazy puzzle called love. Building a Foundation T-Block and Square-Block say that when you're building a relationship you need to pay attention to the little things. Patience, quick reflexes and a basic understanding of geometry are essential if you don't want to end up with a pile of problems you can't clear in time--and then it's game over. Writer's Block Yeah, Tetris isn't a very complicated game. Plus, it's hard to write stuff all gender-neutral for too long. They were all block, shape and building jokes--it's over, man. |
