Video Game Girls Pose for Playboy

By - Posted Aug 31, 2004

If you haven’t heard already, the October 2004 issue of Playboy will feature topless and seductively semi-clothed female characters from popular video games (all CGI rendered pictures, of course), which will be accompanied by an article about the "changing face of gaming". This is all still hush-hush since Playboy hasn’t confirmed the pictorial feature because the October issue won't hit stands for at least a couple of weeks. But, we still managed to get the inside scoop on what characters will be gracing the pages of Playboy.

BloodRayne seems to be the main attraction of this Photoshop-like photo spread. In a move that is sure to have you asking, “Lara Croft, who?” BloodRayne, the half-human, half-vampire will appear topless in the issue. What started out as a joke from BloodRayne's publisher Majesco (or at least we hope so) has now turned into a gamer's paradise thanks to Hef getting other game makers' gals into the mag.

Don’t be too disappointed, but most of the companies aren’t allowing their girls to pose naked. We're guessing it was just in case they wanted to start a legit acting career someday. Here’s a list of who (and maybe what) will be seen in the October issue.

Lucky list of ladies

1. BloodRayne

The half-human, half-vampire star of Majesco's BloodRayne series will appear topless in the October Playboy.
2. Mileena
One of Mortal Kombat's most famous faces will be posing, but not in the buff for the magazine.
3. Nina
After being seen in Namco's Tekken franchise for years, Nina will headline her own game Death by Degrees in 2005. I guess that’s why we won’t be seeing her nude.
4. Luba Licious
Luba's the party gal in the upcoming Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, so it's no real shocker she'll be taking it off for the spread.
5. Kurenai
The main character of Vivendi Universal's upcoming Red Ninja will pose seductively, but not nude.
6. Tala
This kick-butt chick will make her debut in Sammy Studios upcoming Darkwatch: Curse of the West, as well as, appear in the issue (haven’t heard whether she’ll be nude or not).

Games that might be mentioned

1. The Guy Game

While none of the game’s women will appear in the October Playboy, this game is sure to be mentioned due to the fact it is full of DVD movie clips of naked coeds.
2. Singles: Flirt Up Your Life

Eidos AO-rated game is definitely Playboy-material with its male or female full frontal shots.
3. Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude

Come on, who doesn’t love a loser whose only mission is to score with hot chicks.
4. Playboy: The Mansion
Of course this game will be mentioned in the upcoming issue. We hear you’ll be able to photograph Playmates in this game, and possibly be able to access the actual Playboy photo archives.

So why are Hef and the gaming industry taking a chance on some pixilated pics? Let’s say they have a lot in common, like their demographics. Both Playboy and the gaming industry are catering to the same group of guys. What’s better for business than sharing business?

But, some people (mainly those darn critics) think this growing trend of video game nudity and sexuality is something of a double-edged sword for the gaming industry. Scantily-clad female characters might actually offend some people...

But, then again we only buy Playboy for the articles, right?
