Welcome to Mars -- home of robots masquerading as humans, conspiracies, and one ass-kicking policewoman named Armitage.

The year is 2179 and people apparently don't drink, get fired or evicted, or leave their spouses in the future, because there's only one country singer left. The musician won't have to worry about where inspiration for that next song will come from any longer, however, as she is murdered in an airport on Mars, now a colony of Earth.

Even more shocking is the discovery that the singer was actually a Third Type, androids indistinguishable from humans and living among them on the planet. Caught in the middle of the investigation is Chicago cop Ross Syllabus, who has been transferred to Mars following the death of his partner. Syllabus isn't particularly fond of robots (his partner was killed by one), which is why he's less than thrilled with his new assignment.

The murder is simply one piece of a much larger problem: Someone is hunting and killing the planet's androids. Will Syllabus' prejudices interfere with his ability -- or desire -- to track down the crazed killer? Further complicating matters is the discovery that his new partner, Naomi Armitage, is also a Third Type, and the fact that injuries are slowly causing Syllabus himself to become more machine than man.

Assuming they learn to work together -- and that Armitage survives the killer's wrath -- they may just discover that the plot to wipe out the android population extends well beyond one madman's hatred. If that's not enough to make you watch, perhaps knowing that Elizabeth Berkeley of "Showgirls" fame lends her vocal talents will!
